Travel Insurance Glossary
Refer to this travel insurance glossary for help with terms as you’re reading through the description of coverage for your plan. Note: These terms do not necessarily apply to Liability and K&R insurance policies.
Accident – A sudden, unexpected, unusual, specific event which occurs at an identifiable time and place.
Business Partner – An individual who: (a) is involved in a legal partnership; and (b) is actively involved in the day to day management of the business.
Domestic Partner – A person, at least 18 years of age, with whom You have been living in a spousal relationship with.
Injury/Injured – Bodily harm caused by an accident occurring while your coverage is in effect that requires treatment from a physician.
Pre-existing Condition – Any injury, sickness or condition of You, a Traveling Companion, or Your or Your Traveling Companion’s Family Member booked to travel with You for which medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was recommended or received within the 60 day period ending on the Effective Date.
Loss – Injury or damage you sustain as a result of an event covered in your insurance plan.
Repatriation of Remains - Transportation to return your body to city of burial if you die during the trip.
Sickness – An illness or disease which requires treatment and begins while the plan is in effect.
Trip – Prepaid Land/Sea Arrangements and shall include flight connections to join or depart such Land/Sea Arrangements provided such flights are scheduled to commence within one week of the Land/Sea Arrangements. Travel must be more than 100 miles from Your primary residence.
Trip Delay – A trip delay of 12 or more hours caused by a carrier delay, a lost or stolen passport, natural disaster, traffic accident, or civil disorder.
