Jet lag is a temporary sleep disorder caused by traveling rapidly through multiple time zones. Travelers that fall victim to jet lag often end up feeling extremely tired and sometimes sickly. On my most recent trip from the U.S.A to Germany, it took me about three days to recover from jet lag symptoms. Luckily, outreach wasn’t starting right away so there was recovery time, but not all mission travelers have that luxury. When you’re on a mission trip, there isn’t typically time or space for catching up on rest. But on the flip side, it’s imperative that your health stays in tip-top shape so that you can perform at 100% and avoid any travel mishaps.
After my trip to Germany, I took it upon myself to find the most effective steps for overcoming jet lag. Contrary to what I may have thought, preventing jet lag starts before you ever depart on your trip. To make the most out of your next mission trip, use this timeline to prevent jet lag.
